March Memory Verses

It's hard to believe we are wrapping up another month very soon!!  This coming Sunday, March 27th your chidren will have a chance to say their memory verses.  Please work on the verse with them this week.  In order for children to really begin understanding their verses, they need to have some discussion about the meaning of the words they are saying. The memory verses for March are:
Critters (2 year olds - 3 year olds)
Hebrews 10:24b "Let us help one another to do good works."
Sprouts and Seekers (Preschool - 1st Grade)
Psalm 36:5 "Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies."
Adventurers (2nd - 4th Grade)
Psalm 145:8 "The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love."

St. Patrick's Day Scavenger Hunt

Wednesday, March 16th from 3:30pm–5:00pm
Happy St. Patrick’s Day – don’t forget to wear green!  Let’s celebrate together at Chickahominy Oaks Pavilion with a scavenger hunt.  This is an event that will appeal to preschool and early elementary kids.  Come join us as we follow clues leading us to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (i.e. a small prize)! We'll also enjoy a St. Patrick's Day treat and story.  Come dressed in as much green as you have! Fun for EVERYONE!

The following information is from Ministsry-To-Children.com

1. Watch The St. Patrick’s Day VideoCheck out the Veggie Tales story of St. Patrick video. Assign the following questions to the kids before watching the clip. When it is finished call on volunteers to share what they learned.
  • What bad thing happened to the boy in the story?
  • What did the people in Ireland believe about God?
  • What did the boy do when he was lonely?
  • What’s the deal with the shamrock?
The story ends with this pronouncement, he was “a great man who loved Ireland and loved God.” This story could easily lead into a talk about missions or loving our enemies.
