Walk His Ways

This past Sunday children completed the first of their Lent lessons in children's worship.  They discussed the difference between saying they would do something and actually doing it.  Through this discussion they began to explore how they can serve Jesus and each other by "Walking in His Ways." The children in both the Preschool and Elementary Class completed "Walk His Ways" coupon booklets to share with their family.  Encourage your children to fulfill what the coupon offers.

During the Lent Lessons children will still have an opportunity to answer Catechism questions so keep practicing at home.  This week we will begin with the Elementary class and if time allows we will also ask the Preschool class.

Lent and Children's Worship

Check out the following Lenten Devotional Blog:  http://lentreading.wordpress.com/.  You can register to receive daily emails providing brief scripture passages during Lent.  This blog provides an explanation to the meaning of Lent.  The Lenten Season begins on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 22nd) and lasts until Saturday, April 7th.  There is a section on this blog that asks "How can I keep lent?"  Four basic ways are outlined if you are interested.

We will be discussing Lent during Children's Worship beginning on February 26th. We will cover 5 lessons as we prepare to remember and celebrate Jesus dying on the cross and rising from the grave to save us. Our focus on the Lent lessons will not be on teaching the children to give up things during lent but rather to take on doing good things, like Jesus did.  We will use parable Bible stories for each lesson as we explore "Walk His Ways" Lent lessons.  Check out the blog each Sunday evening beginning February 26th for the activities suggested to children during the lesson as they take on doing good things. For more information about the "Walk His Ways" lessons check out the following link:  Walk His Ways

Children's Worship - This coming Sunday we will begin with the Preschool class asking catechism questions, but hope to also have an opportunity to ask the Elementary children.  They are all doing great job learning the catechism questions.
Keep up the good work kids!!!

Loving Our Missions Partners Around the World

Beginning tomorrow there will be a display of all the mission partners GCPC supports.  In celebration of Valentine's Day we will be focusing on 3 to 4 mission partners each week to pray for throughout February.  Please take a prayer card each week and share with your children who they are praying for using the pictures and map on the display board.  Many thanks to the missions team in preparing this display!!  Please take  a prayer card each week in February as we will change them weekly.  As a church we currently support 18  mission partners through international, domestic, mercy, and church planting.

I may  have gone a bit overboard on the heart stickers!!!
