1st: Lenten Journey Kits - I handed these out last year. If you did not receive one and would like one please let me know. I am happy to provide them. The following items are included in the kit:
* Magnetic Symbols
* Tray with Lenten Journey Path
2nd: I have two book recommendations:
- Check out the following link for a summary: The Lenten Tree Devotions for Children and Adults to prepare for Christ's Death and His Resurrection. Copies of this book are available on the Grace Kids Resource Table for $10.
- The Word Became Flesh: A Family Lenten Devotional Guide. Copies of this book are available for $7.
- LOVE this suggestion for the homemade ornaments connected to the family devotional: Family Devotion Ornament Display
- Using a grapevine wreath to display the ornaments. Pictures in the book may be copied for individual use. Easter tradition suggestion
3rd: Jelly Bean Prayer/Devotion
- Check out the details here: http://framedinfaith.blogspot.com/2013/02/jelly-beans-jesus.html
- Jelly Bean prayer kits were handed out last year. If you would like one please let me know.
- The devotion begins on Ash Wednesday (February 10th).
- The children will be filling up their individual jars with jelly beans and waiting to eat them (hopefully). The jars are small so the children will be able to empty the jar a couple times throughout Lent and eat the jelly beans to make room for additional ones.
Through the devotions and activities I pray they encourage a time of prayer and reflection throughout Lent.
