Back to Sunday Communities

This coming Sunday will be a big week at GCPC for Grace Kids.  We will begin with Sunday Communities for all ages.  We have several children graduating to different classes and a team of of many teachers.  Please check out the Sunday Community Handbook this week at church.  We will have copies for every family.  This will help you know the team of teachers working specifically with your children.  I have also listed important information regarding the sign in procedure and dismissal.

Grace Kids Backpacks will be handed out to our newest members of children's worship. They will be available on the Grace Kids table as you enter church this week.

Children's Worship:  The elementary children will have an opportunity to answer catechism questions this week. Please have your child review the answers at home to be prepared for Sunday.  This is a great way to help children learn Bible truths!!

Children attending children's worship (Preschool - 2nd grade) will bring home a picture this week of the child GCPC supports through Compassion International.  We will be taking a group picture this week to send to Abdias.  We will also be asking children to share something they would like to tell him and then I will combine everything into one letter.  I will share a copy of the completed letter with children next week during children's worship.  I am looking forward to beginning our correspondence with Abdias.  We have been sharing with the children that the offering they give during children's worship will go to Compassion International for this little boy.

Sunday - Summer Activity Cancelled

We will not be meeting on Sunday evening at  Chickahominy Oaks Pavilion from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.  Sorry for the cancellation but due to a low rsvp for this activity we will reschedule for another time. 

Children's Worship - Catechism Update

We have continued to teach the catechisms this summer to the children.  Beginning September 9th we will move children who are rising Kindergartens up to the Elementary Class. We will also bring in children who will be 4 years old by summer of 2013 to the Preschool Class.  Since classes will change we will go back and review catechism questions.  This will give the children who are entering a chance to learn the catechism questions and the current students a chance to review.  As always children work at their own pace with their catechism questions.  We instruct them all together but they are asked weekly the catechism questions.  The teacher marks in each child's journal the answers they have learned and a slip is sent home for the parents.  


Children in the preschool class will be instructed on catechism questions 33 - 42 during the month of August.  Children in the elementary class will be instructed on catechism questions 111- 121 this month.  


Each week in children's worship there is instruction on new catechism questions and an opportunity to review the past catechism questions.  All children should have their own copy of the booklet:  First Catechism Teaching Children Bible Truths - Great Commission Publications.  Children entering for the first time this fall will receive their booklets at the end of this month along with their Grace Kids Backpacks.  

Summer Fun

Join us next Sunday evening, August 5th for Summer Fun at Chickahominy Oaks Pavilion from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.  There will be a kickball game for those interested.  If you would prefer not to play kickball a craft will be available as well as a great playground.  Icecream sundaes will be served at the beginning of the evening.  Water will be available too.  Please RSVP to julie@gcpres.org.  RSVPs are greatly appreciated to plan accordingly for the icecream.

Kids Give Back - Pirate Skit

Captain Hook and Smee are a couple crazy characters in the Kids Give Back skit.  We begin the evening each night with the skit and then it is followed by games, treasure hunt, music, and lessons.  The Bible lesson helps to emphasize why we give back and aren't greedy with our possessions.
