Our Shine the Light preschool crew learned about the wise men following the star to Jesus (Matthew 2:1-10). The lesson they learned was that God gave us Jesus. The symbol related to the story was a star. The Flash, Rae-Rae, and Twinkle continue to give wonderful performances as they tell the story through a skit.
The Chase the Light elementary crew heard a story about Nicodemus (John 3:1-21). The lesson they learned is that: We can believe what Jesus said. During small group time they discussed how it is fun to learn things about each other and in the same way we can learn more about Jesus by praying and reading His word. The lesson on Nicodemus taught this as he figured out that he needed to spend time with Jesus in order to know about Him.
Thank you for all the book donations. I am excited to pass along to Dianne from YoungLives this Friday. We collected 2 big boxes full of books for young children! WAY TO GO!
This evening our service project is to donate a toy (new or used) for a young child.

Kids Give Back - A couple short clips
Check out the song Chase the Light. The elementary kids are having a fun time actually CHASING A LIGHT while they learn the song!!
The preschool group practicing their memory verse: Matthew 5:16
Kids Give Back - Tuesday
Such a fun night!! The kids did a great job filling mason jars with an assortment of beans and noodles to make soup mixes for the moms. They all worked together to fill the jars.
Shine the Light (preschool crew) had another visit from The Flash, Rae- Rae, and Twinkle. They learned about God keeping his promises. Their story was from Genesis 6:9-9:17 - God promised Noah and us. Each night the children have been talking about symbols to help them remember the Bible stories. Monday they discussed the sun in connection with creation and Tuesday they discussed a rainbow for promises. They continued to work on their memory verse: Matthew 5:16 and the songs: My God is so big, God made me shine, and God loves you and me. I hope to have video of the children singing songs on this blog by tomorrow.
Chase the Light (elementary crew) watched a skit and video about Calling the Disciples from Mark 1:16-20. In the lesson they learned how Gods wants us to see ourselves for who we really are. A good follow up with the children would be to pray with them thanking God for the unique way He created each of them. The skit emphasized how God has given each of us different abilities and talents. Bottom line for kids today: God sees each of them as a unique person that He created, that He loves, and that He has plans for (Be who He wants us to be).
Service project for tonight: Children are asked to bring in a book (new or used) for children 4 months old - 3 years old.

Kids Give Back - First Night
We had a great first night of Kids Give Back! Check out the following pictures of a few things we did during our time. During this week we are supporting YoungLives which is a ministry for young moms. Last night the preschool children participated in painting wooden crosses to give to each mom for their children. The elementary group worked on painting pictures on canvas totes. The canvas totes will be for the moms. They turned out so well with the assistance of Sandy Miller drawing cute designs on the totes. All the children took their time and were quite the artists!!
The preschool group heard a lesson on creation and how God makes all good things. The lesson was presented in a skit with three characters: The Flash, Rae, and Twinkle. Ask your children about the skit when you get a chance. Tonight they will hear a story about how God keeps his promises.
The elementary group watched a video with a skit and lesson on the Wise Men with the bottom line being: follow the light that is Jesus. They worked on two songs: Get Down and Chase the Light. Tonight they will learn about how God wants us to see ourselves for who we really are. The lesson will be on Mark 1:16-20 - Calling the Disciples.
Looking forward to another fun filled evening!!!
