Children's Worship/Sermon Study

Children's Worship Lesson Summary:
First of all I want to say WAY TO GO to our youngest group of kids attending children's worship. They have been doing a great job adjusting to children's worship instead of nursery. This past Sunday they had a chance to answer questions and did a FANTASTIC job!

This coming Sunday the ELEMENTARY CLASS will be given an opportunity to answer catechism questions.  As a reminder, children go at their own pace for the catechism questions.  Even though their instruction this past week was on Catechism Questions: 41- 48 many of the children are answering questions past those numbers.

The following is an overview of the instruction your child received last week during children's worship time.
Preschool Class: Instruction on Catechism Question 6
All children had to look for a number 1 card which had been hidden in the hallway. The number 1 card was then added to each of their journals.  Then they added the following label:  There is only 1 true God.  Children listened to the ask me whooo cd while coloring the picture. Just as Clint has been talking about idols in the sermon, the preschool class discussed idols on Sunday too.  They discussed how they show their love for God by worshipping and obeying Him.  Discuss with your child some things that can become more important to us than God is (they discussed toys, bicycle, playing, TV, friends). Remind your child that these are gifts from God but they must not become more important to us than God.

Elementary Class (Kindergarten - 2nd grade): Review of Catechism Questions 41- 48
They played Tic Tac Toe Catechism to review questions 1 - 48. Children were split into 2 groups and played tic tac toe using 2 large boards on the floor .   Then the children wrote the following in their journals: We study the catechisms to learn about God and learn to love and obey Him more and more

Sermon Study (3rd and 4th Graders)
Thank you Mr. Matt for leading the Sermon Study time this week.  The children follow a discussion format during this time to talk through the scripture passage.   Ways you can follow up with your child would be to use the sheet they bring home (if applicable) or the 3 points outlined in the bulletin.

Please note:
There is no sermon study offered the first Sunday of the month.  A sermon guide will be provided on October 7th and can be picked up at the Welcome Table.
